• Read other peoples blog to get a sense for what is out there
• You don’t need to be a great writer to be a good blogger
• Find your voice and don’t just regurgitate local news
• Have a honest conversation with your audience
• Explore the manifold benefits of blogging which include marketing exposure, SEO and traffic, social networking and “two-way” education
• Understand that some benefits of blogging are tangible and some are intangible
• Keep a journal or notebook to jot down blogging ideas
• Talk about something you enjoy and “be true to yourself”, authenticity is important
• It’s okay to have more than more than blog to go after different “markets” or areas of interest
• Social networks like ActiveRain are a great place to start learning, networking and blogging
